Death condemned ex-junior home minister Lutfozzaman Babar and Jamaat-e-Islami leader and also former industries minister Motiur Rahman Nizami have been taken to Kashimpur Jail, Gazipur. They were brought out from respective condemned cells of Chittagong Central Jail around 10am,Chittagong Central Jail Senior Superintendent Mohammad Sagir Mia told . The transfer was undertaken ahead of schedule for a hartal and Biswa Ijtema, he said. The 14 accused in a Chittagong 10-truck arms case, including Babar and Nizami, were sentenced for the gallows on January 30, 10 years after the incident.
Babar and Nizami were imprisoned under divisional facilities in this case. But, they lost those privileges after the verdict was pronounced.The vehicle carrying the death convicts arrived at Kashimpur Jail 1st February at 7:05pm , Jail Super Abdur Razzak told the Dhaka Tribune.Nizami has been kept at high security jail while Babar at part 1 of Kashimpur Jail, said the jail super.
