Five students of North South University (NSU), detained in connection with blogger Ahmed Rajib Haidar murder, have claimed that an Islami Chhatra Shibir leader and activist orchestrated the killing, according to police.Detectives arrested the five NSU students raiding different parts of the capital Friday night.
Rajib Haidar, a Shahbagh movement activist, was found stabbed dead near his residence in the city's Mirpur area on February 15.
Anik and Faisal bin Naim stabbed Rajib, others were on duty to protected the killers as they stated to press.
Earlier on Wednesday, Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir said seven people have so far been arrested in connection with the murder of Haidar.Mashiur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) of police, told The Daily Star Saturday morning that law enforcers made the arrest on information.
During an overnight drive, they conducted raids at different parts in the city and arrested the five, he said.
The law enforcers also recovered six machetes, one bicycle, a bag and eight mobile sets from the possession of the arrestees.
The arrestees are identified as Faisal bin Naim alias Dip, Ahsan Reza Rumman, Maksudul Hassan Anik, Naim Sikder Irad and Nafiz Imtiaz. The other detail of the students was not known immediately.
