Bangladesh is close to self-sufficiency ; a country that is economically independent:Moody's Rating

Moody's Investors Service, an international credit rating agency, has retained its rating on Bangladesh, putting it at Ba3 for the successive second year. "This rating is recognition of strong progress in Bangladesh economy," Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Ziaul Hasan Siddique told a press meet on Monday. He said, "With this rating, Bangladesh remains at the same level with the Philippines and the only country ahead of us in South Asia is India." Siddique said the report praised the country's strong and reasonable position in balance of payment and balance of trade, and predicted that its macroeconomic stability would remain unchanged in the future. It recommended development of physical infrastructure, expansion of government revenue base and increased regional cooperation for better credit rating. "Bangladesh's average net budget deficit in 2006–2011 (3.7 percent) was the lowest in Southeast Asian nations of the same level," he told reporters."Balance of trade, foreign currency and liquidity flow are risk-free because of adequate foreign aid, significant foreign currency reserve and favourable foreign loans," he added. "Bangladesh is also close to food autarky" he said. Means Economic independence or self-sufficiency or a country that is economically independent. Tue, Apr 19th, 2011
