Sofia. A Chechen and a Turk wanted by Interpol on terrorism charges were arrested on the border between Bulgaria and Romania on Friday. During a check at a border checkpoint identity documents issued by the authorities in Germany and the Netherlands were seized from the suspects, announced Nadezhda Miteva, spokeswoman for the district prosecutor’s office in the northern city of Ruse, ITAR-TASS reported.
According to her 47-year-old Chechen Mohmad Gadamouri told the border police that he arrived in Bulgaria on a holiday with five children. The check revealed that the person was wanted for a terrorist attack in Ingushetia in 2003. Gadamouri is also charged with illegal trade in arms and toxic substances. In Germany he lives as a refugee.
29-year-old Turk Erkan Polater is arrested on a charge of involvement in a terrorist organization, but the Bulgarian prosecutor’s office does not name it.
